Berlin made it clear on Thursday that the Patriot air defence items it provided to Poland are meant to be used on NATO territory, countering calls for by Warsaw for the system to be despatched to Ukraine.
“These Patriots are a part of NATO’s built-in air defence, that means they’re meant to be deployed on NATO territory,” German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht stated in Berlin.
“Any use exterior NATO territory would require prior discussions with NATO and the allies,” she added.
Berlin provided Warsaw the Patriot missile defence system to assist safe its airspace after a stray missile crashed and killed two folks in Poland final week.
Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak stated on Wednesday he had requested Germany to ship the Patriot fireplace items to Ukraine as a substitute.
