Ten folks have been killed and 9 injured in a fireplace in a residential constructing in China’s northwestern Xinjiang area, state media reported Friday.
The blaze broke out in a high-rise constructing on Thursday evening, state information company Xinhua mentioned, at about 7:50 pm (1150 GMT).
“Ten folks died regardless of emergency therapy,” Xinhua reported.
“The accidents sustained by 9 others are usually not life-threatening,” it added, saying an investigation into the fireplace had begun.
Lethal fires are widespread in China, because of weak security requirements and corruption amongst officers tasked with implementing them.
This week, 38 folks have been killed and two have been injured in a fireplace at a manufacturing unit in central China’s Anyang metropolis.
Authorities blamed “electrical welding by which staff violated security measures”.
